Ministries
What we do
You’re also invited to serve with us. One of our main cultural values is serving wholeheartedly and that serving others is both a privilege and a responsibility for all Christians so we encourage everyone to get involved, according to the gifts and talents they’ve been given. If you want to know more about getting involved in one of our ministries, please contact the ministry leader listed on the relevant page.
Blockhouse Bay Christian Kindergarten
We opened a Kindergarten in 1996 to meet the early childhood education needs of our community and this centre has now provided a wonderful service to hundreds of families. We offer a large, well equipped facility, combined with a staff of fully qualified and highly dedicated teachers which makes Blockhouse Bay Christian Kindergarten an excellent choice for your early childhood education needs.
Our Centre caters for children aged 2-5 and is committed to providing firm foundations for life using Christian principles throughout each child’s learning experience.
Blockhouse Bay Community Debt Centre
This is an exciting new ministry we’ve started this year. BBCC have partnered with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to work with people in our community to get out – and stay out – of unmanageable debt and poverty.
Counselling
We’re partnering with the Christian Counselling Ministry, Mind Health, to provide a Trainee Counsellor.
It’s always been our dream to provide Christian counselling services to our church and community and so entered in this partnership with our first counselling intern who started in February 2022.
Global Partners
We support a wide range of Global Partners in Asia Pacific through the Alliance Churches of New Zealand.
We also support the work of Pervez and Shirin David, members at BBCC, who have an extensive ministry in Northern India.
Global Women
Women with a heart for missions meet throughout the year to learn about people and projects around the world, and fundraise for their sisters overseas.
Gold Club
Our 65+ group meets regularly for social events and a monthly Bible Study. Everyone is welcome to join the group.
Kidz Quest
Every Sunday morning Kidz Quest provides something special for children aged 3 to Year 8.
Men
Men at BBCC have the chance to get involved in a Small Group Bible Study that meets twice a month, a quarterly Social Event, Working Bees, and a number of informal gatherings.
Prayer
Prayer provides the foundation for all we do at BBCC. It expresses our dependency on God and our trust in His ability to provide for all we need. We offer the following opportunities to pray with others, and to receive prayer ministry for personal needs.
Prayer Teams
Prayer Ministry Teams are available to pray for people after every Sunday service at the front of the auditorium.
Online Prayer Meeting
We hold a weekly online Prayer Meeting on Zoom, every Thursday from 7.30 – 8.30 pm. Please contact the church office for an invitational link to join us.
Prayer Chain
Sign up for our email Prayer Chain to receive prayer requests/updates, and to pray and uplift one another. If you’d like to be a part of this, please email info@bbcc.org.nz.
Stay & Pray
Our main Prayer Meeting is held on the third Sunday of the month after the service from 12.30 – 1.00 pm. All are welcome to join us.
Prayer Walk
We Prayer Walk once a month (third Saturday of the month) to discern what God is doing & pray a blessing over our community.
Life Groups
Our Life Groups provide a place to meet, talk, pray, worship, serve, love, laugh, and learn together. They are led by people who encourage the group towards spiritual growth and hosted by people who enjoy welcoming people into their homes. Life Groups come in many different forms and meet weekly or twice a month with the time and place decided by each group. We have a range of groups available and you’re invited to come along and find one that suits you.
Worship Team
Worship has been described as our response to God’s revelation. While there are many ways to express our worship, music is one of the most powerful and at BBCC we try to use music in a God honouring way to encourage people to express their worship to God.
Our Worship Team includes a range of age groups, cultures, and experiences and we’re committed to giving God our “Highest Praise” at the services and events we support. We rehearse before our Sunday services at 9.00am, and once a month on a week night.
